ADVERTISEMENT FOR PREQUALIFICATION AND BIDS FOR:

The project includes but is not limited to new construction of the Benjamin Barnes YMCA Facility. The project is being constructed for the City of Tuscaloosa, which is the awarding authority.
 
PREQUALIFICATION: The MANDATORY prequalification procedure will identify responsible and competent General Contractor bidders relative to the requirements of the Project.  Pre-qualification project summary information will be made available to prospective bidders on June 26,2023 by contacting Jonathan Grammer via email at [email protected] .
 
Contractor Prequalification Submittals shall be submitted to Volkert, Inc. by prospective bidders no later than 5:00pm CST on July 24, 2023 via electronic copy emailed to [email protected] . E-mailed digital copies are to be follow-up with three (3) hard copies sent to the office of: Volkert, Inc. 100 Towncenter Blvd., Ste. 114 Tuscaloosa, AL 35406 within 24 hours of electronic submittal. Notification of successfully prequalified respondents will be issued no later than 5:00pm CST on July 28, 2023.  
 
Additional qualifications and requirements for General Contractor Bidders and Subcontractors are indicated in the Bid and Contract Documents.  Only General Contractors who have completed the prequalification process within the stated time limits, and which are properly licensed in accordance with criteria established by the State Licensing Board for General Contractors under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975, as amended, will be considered for the Work of this Project.
 
BID OPENING: Sealed Bid Proposals will be received by the City of Tuscaloosa, at the Council Chamber of City Hall, 2201 University Boulevard, on August 23, 2023 at 10:00 am local time for this project, at which time bids will be opened and read.
 
Pre-Bid Conference: Attendance at the MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference is required for prequalified General Contractors to submit a bid on this Project. The Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the Council Chamber of City Hall, 2201 University Boulevard, on August 16, 2023 at 10:00 am local time.
 
Award of the contract will be made within forty-five (45) calendar days from the date of the bid opening.
 
Plans and Specifications:  Plans and specifications and all related Contract Documents are open for public inspection at the City of Tuscaloosa’s Office of Construction, Facilities and Grounds (CFG) located at 2201 University Blvd., Tuscaloosa, Alabama and  plans,  specifications  and  other  elements  of  the  contract  documents  may  be  obtained  from  the  office  of  Volkert, Inc. designated as the office of the awarding authority for this purpose, located at 100 Towncenter Blvd., Ste. 114 Tuscaloosa, AL 35406. Bids must be submitted on bid proposal forms furnished by the Architect or copies thereof.  All bidders bidding in amounts exceeding that established by the State Licensing Board for Contractors must be licensed under the Provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended, and must show such evidence of license before bidding or bid will not be received or considered by Architect or Owner.  The bidder shall show such evidence by clearly displaying their current license number on the outside of the sealed envelope in which the bid is delivered.
