The sawcut items is based on assuming that the asphalt is 4” thick. Typically the existing soil cement based extends beyond the asphalt paving. Will we be required to full depth cut the existing soi cement base? Note 11 on your cover sheet states that the contractor shall excavate all muck and backfill with base material and include it in his pricing. It is impossible for the contractor to know the extent of any muck that may be encountered and the depth that it may be. Would you consider adding a pay item for excavating and removing muck and backfilling with suitable fill? Maybe a 200 cy item so that everyone puts a fair price on it and if not used it would not be billed. If not what item would you want the cost included in? Note 27 on your cover sheet states that the contractor will remove any spongy material before placing bedding or borrow. It seams unfair to put the burden on knowing an unknown on the contractor without providing soil bores. If a items was added for excavating and removing unstable soil and backfilling with suitable fill it would be fair for the owner and the contractor. Note 24 also mentions muck excavation. If a item is not added what pay item should the cost be included in? On Sheet 2 it is stated that silt fence shall be used at the discretion of and the direction of the engineer. How will this be paid? On Sheet 2 it is stated that the contractor shall remove all topsoil and organics. Do you have a maximum depth of the topsoil and organics? What items would this cost be included in? Typically on an overlay the state requires a milled transition on each in at the tie ins. Can you provide a tie in detail showing how long the transition would be?

Sheet 4.1 shows 6" Barrier Curb on both driveways. How will this be paid?
