Included in the BASE BID work are two phases of work. Phase I is the Demolition Phase and includes coordination of the removal of the existing rails with New Orleans Public Belt, excavation of the existing soil around the existing floodwall and gate sill slab down to the floodwall Base Slab, removal of the existing concrete floodwall stem via hand chipping to have existing reinforcing dowels embedded in the floodwall base slab to remain and removal of the existing gate sill slab, load, hauling and disposal of removed concrete and reinforcing steel, and all other work noted in the Contract Documents described herein. Following the completion of the Demolition Phase, the Contractor shall allow a 15 consecutive
calendar timeframe for the Owner, Engineer and USACE to inspect the base slab structure for additional damage. Any additional damage noted will be captured in the scope of work of Add Alternate No. 1.  Phase II is the Repair Phase and includes construction of the T-Wall Stem and gate sill slab including all formwork, reinforcing, concrete materials and installation of embedded angles and all other work noted in the Contract Documents described herein to construct the floodwall stem and gate sill slab back to original design conditions. The Contractor shall have 45 consecutive calendar days to complete the Base Bid work. This 45 consecutive calendar day period is inclusive of the 15 consecutive calendar day inspection period

Included in the ADD ALTERNATE No. 1 includes removal of the existing base slab (hand chipping not required) and stem reinforcing dowels to the limits as directed by the Owner and Engineer, load, hauling and disposal of removed concrete and reinforcing steel, additional excavation, formwork, reinforcing, concrete materials, expansion joints, waterstops, and all other work noted in the Contract Documents described herein to construct the floodwall stem and gate sill slab back to original design conditions. An additional 15 consecutive calendar days will be added to the total contract time if ADD ALTERNATE No.1 is authorized bring the total Contract Time to 60 consecutive calendar days if ADD ALTERNATE No. 1.
