This timber sale is a combination of marked thinning and logger-select thinning located within mature slash pine plantations previously thinned over 10 years ago. The marked portion of the sale area is approximately 88.5 acres, and trees for harvest are marked with blue paint at eye level. The logger-select area is 27.1 acres and timber to be harvested is based on the following criteria: diseased, defective, and suppressed trees shall be harvested first, followed by a portion of the intermediate and co-dominant trees to reach the desired basal area range of 40 to 50 square feet per acre. The District estimates the volume of timber conveyed in this Agreement to be 834 tons of pine pulpwood, 1,133 tons of chip-n-saw (CNS), but there is no guarantee that the volume is present.
