Pre-Bid Conference: Attendance at the MANDATORY Pre-Bid Conference is required in order for a General Contractor to submit a bid on this Project. The Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the Council Chamber of City Hall, 2201 University Boulevard, on September 19th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. local time.
Project Scope: The following scope of work will occur at Tuscaloosa National Airport. In a base bid schedule, Runway 12-30 will receive removal of its approximately 86,500 square feet of pavement markings and black outline markings, approximately 25,000 linear feet of crack routing and sealing with hot-pour sealant, application of an emulsified asphalt seal coat, temporary marking of approximately 8,000 square feet of runway designation numerals and centerline markings for reopening the runway during a 30-day curing period for the seal coat, and finally, reapplication of the entirety of the 86,500 square feet of runway markings and black outline markings, to include a reapplication of retro-reflective marking paint on the temporary marks and the addition of threshold markings, aiming point markings, and edge markings. Additionally, in alternate bid schedules, approximately 20,000 square feet of taxiway pavement markings will be applied, and 17,000 linear feet of cracks will be routed and sealed on parallel Taxiways C and D.
To enable the safe completion of these work items, while the airport’s main Runway 4-22 remains open to air traffic, the work will also require the temporary displacement of the Runway 22 threshold with the successful bidder’s installation of temporary outboard threshold markings and temporary threshold lighting. Access to the active Runway 4-22 will be maintained throughout construction with the successful bidder’s deployment and rearrangement of low-level aircraft barricades to provide aircraft routes along portions of Taxiways C and D that avoid active work zones. Runway 12-30 will be closed during construction with the successful bidder’s deployment, fueling, and operation of airport-supplied lighted runway closure markers._
Award of the contract will be made within fifty (50) calendar days from the date of the bid opening.
