There is no mention of site surveys/walkthroughs in the RFP. What are our options for visiting sites, and/or what actions do we need to take to schedule visits?

There is no mention of site surveys/walkthroughs in the RFP. What are our options for visiting sites, and/or what actions do we need to take to schedule visits? Vendors should reference the SCPPS_Site_Maps document for information regarding school sites. If there are any specific questions regarding sites, please post your question(s) here. Site walkthroughs will only be conducted with the awarded vendor(s) upon selection.

1. What type of ceilings do the buildings have? E.g. Drop tile/Hard
2. Do you currently have enough racks to support the amount of equipment needed estimated by you in the RFP? If not, how many racks are needed?
3. Will conduit be required for Access Points?
4. Will fiber optic cabling have to be in conduit from Point A. to Point B.?
5. Does the cabling need to be plenum?
6. What is your existing network composed of (electrical equipment)? Please include vendors.

Is there any underground cabling trenching or boring in this project? There may be some instances where boring is necessary, although much of the outdoor cabling work will be run along breezeways. Costs for boring must be noted in the Additional Costs section of the SCPPS 2.3 Cabling Cost Sheet. Be sure to identify units.

Do you have measurements of each building we need to do your access points? No. Access points should be priced based on the estimates listed in section 2.1.1 of 2.1 Wireless. The estimates are based on one access point per classroom and one access point per each administrative area. Once a proposal is accepted, SCPPS will work with the vendor to finalize the number of access points needed to provide appropriate coverage.

4. Will fiber optic cabling have to be in conduit from Point A. to Point B.? Please reference items 2.3.1.11 and 2.3.1.12 listed in the cabling requirements.
5. Does the cabling need to be plenum? No, as listed in requirement 2.3.1.7.
6. What is your existing network composed of (electrical equipment)? Please include vendors. Please be more specific with this question.

Wireless (Section 2.1)
1. Section 2.1.1 the RFP states, “Vendor must review the maps to propose a network design and access point model/quantities for indoor wireless coverage at each site.” Does SCPPS have a preferred coverage model? (Density or Coverage?)
a. Does St. Charles Parish Public School District currently have any one-to-one initiatives?
i. If so, at which sites?
b. Is coverage in gyms, auditoriums and cafeterias desired?
c. Is coverage needed in any outdoor areas?
d. Does SCPPS require machine certificates or user based authentication for the Wireless network?

2. (Section2.1.2.8) Would SCPPS consider a controller-less solution?

5. If we would like to proposed two options for network switching, do we need to submit two separate RFPs, or can we create an “optional solution” section?

6. Would SCPPS like to see options for 8 port switches, 24 port switches or power injectors for areas that do not require 48 POE ports?
