ADVERTISMENT FOR LAND CLEARING, GRUBBINGS, GRADING BIDS
Notice is hereby given that Board of Supervisors of George County, Mississippi, will receive sealed bids in the Board Room, George
County Administrative Building, 329 Ratliff Street, Lucedale, MS, 39452, until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 07, 2024 for land
clearing, grubbing, and debris removal for approximately 57 Acres on the County’s “80 Acre Site” inside the George County
Industrial Park.
Bids are invited for all equipment, labor, tools, and services necessary for site work consisting of, but not limited to: cutting and
clearing of timber, vegetation and brush; removing stumps; disposing and/or burning debris; and standard ground leveling and land
grading for enhanced site development. The maximum time allowable for completion of said project is 90 calendar days following
the County's Notice to Proceed.
The County has prepared a “Specification Sheet” to assist contractors or applicants in preparing their bids for all land clearing,
grubbing, removal requirements for this project. Applicants can pick up the “80 Acre Site- Spec Sheet” at the County’s
Administration Bldg. Front Desk.
Should a bidder choose to submit a bid electronically in place of a sealed bid, it may be submitted at www.centralbidding.com.

Proposals must be accompanied by a Proposal Guaranty consisting of a Bid Bond, Cashier’s Check or Certified Check in the amount
of 5 percent (5%) of the amount of the bid.
All persons having a contract with George County must adhere to the County's policy concerning non-discrimination without regard
to race, creed, color, age, sex, national origin, or handicap.
As a conditional precedent to the opening of a bid financed wholly with County, City, State, or other non-federal public funds and
which is equal to or in excess of $50,000, the bidder must have a “Certificate of Responsibility” issued by the Mississippi State
Board of Contractors or a similar certificate issued by another State recognizing such certificate issued by the State of Mississippi.
All bids shall be marked “SEALED BID FOR GEORGE COUNTY LAND CLEARING, GRUBBING, AND GRADING
PROJECT”. Any bid in excess of $50,000 must contain on the outside of the envelope the contractor’s current certificate of
responsibility number, and no bid shall be opened or considered unless this number appears on the outside of the envelope or unless a
statement is included on the outside of the envelope indicating that the bid enclosed does not exceed $50,000. If any envelope is not
so marked, then the bid contained therein shall not be considered.
The successful bidder will be required to execute a formal contract and furnish performance and payment bonds in the amount of
One Hundred Percent (100%) of the total amount of the contract.
The Board of Supervisors hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively ensure that minority business enterprises will be
afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race,
color or national origin in consideration for an award.
The ability to obtain any insurance required by the contract documents which does not require proof of coverage to be
contained in the submitted bid (such as bid bonds), must be demonstrated in the bid by the means specified in the contract
documents. Proof of actual insurance coverage must be submitted within five (5) business days from the bid acceptance.
Bids submitted by a nonresident contractor shall include the nonresident contractor’s current state law in relation to preference law.
Bids submitted by a nonresident contractor that do not include the nonresident contractor’s current state law in relation to preference
law shall not be considered for award. If the state does not have a preference law, the contactor shall submit a letter from an officer of
the court stating such.
Bids may be held by George County, Mississippi, for a period not to exceed 60 days from the date of the opening of bids for the
purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract.
The County reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any informality in the proposal accepted. The contract, if
awarded, will be made to the lowest qualified bidder and the County reserves the right to reject all bids or any bid, to waive any
informalities and to postpone the award of the Contract for a period of time which, however, shall not extend beyond 60 days from
the bid opening date. No bidder may withdraw his bid within sixty (60) days after the date of the opening thereof.
