A. The construction as shown and described in the Contract Documents consists of the following: (This is a partial list. Refer to the rest of this specification and drawings for additional notes and information.)
1. This project entails the reroofing of Building #01, 02, 03, 04, 05, bus loading shelter and cafeteria connecting links at W.S. Lafargue Elementary School. The existing roofs consist of asphalt base built-up roof with gravel surface over the entire roof.
2. Roofs at Buildings #01, 02, 03, and 04 have a sloped lightweight concrete deck over a concrete plank system (pre-cast concrete deck).
3. Building #05 has a sloped structural concrete deck.
4. The Bus Loading Shelter and the Cafeteria Connecting Links have a pre-cast concrete deck.
5. The Contractor is to remove all asphalt felts insulation and gravel down to the deck of Buildings #01, 02, 03, 04, 05, Bus Loading Shelter and Cafeteria Connecting Links.
6. A new fluid applied roofing and flashing system along with polyisocyanurate insulation and Dens Deck Prime Roof Board shall be installed over existing decks.
7. New stainless steel gutters, drip edges, and downspouts, in gauges as shown on Contract Documents, shall be installed.
8. Stainless steel curbs shall be fabricated and installed in sizes required to support chill water pipes and kitchen roof top exhaust fan and duct assembly.
9. New miro pillow style block pipe supports shall support existing gas lines feeding kitchen exhaust roof equipment.
10. All stainless steel curbs and miro pillow blocks shall be installed over a Paratread protective layer.
11. New stainless steel expansion joint covers shall be installed at Roof #01, 02, and 04.
12. All existing roof drains shall be removed and a retro-fit roof drain shall be installed.
13. All existing skylights shall be capped.
B. PHASING OF REROOFING
1. The first phase that will be performed by the Successful Contractor is the dry-in / reroofing of the Bus Loading Shelter before the students return for school on August 8, 2019. If for some reason, rain delays, the Contractor will not be able to work between the hours of 7:30 am to 9:00 am and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. (This is due to bus drop off in the morning and bus pick up in the afternoon.)
2. Any other roof to be reroofed in this project can be worked on at anytime if a barrier is placed between the students and work area.
3. The school’s administration has the authority to stop work if it interferes with a school function, testing, etc. The Contractor shall contact the Lafourche Parish School Board office for a calendar along with requesting the school’s administration for its specific calendar of events and activities.
