SUMMIT BOULEVARD DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS
12TH AVENUE TO FIRESTONE DRIVE
 
SCOPE OF WORK

This project is intended to improve storm drainage along Summit Boulevard at the intersection of Summit and Piedmont Road. Work will include the excavation of a new stormwater retention pond on the north side of Summit Boulevard and will include the removal of several existing shrubs and the protection of multiple trees within the pond area. A “Type C Ditch Bottom Inlet with Skimmer” will be installed at the east end of the retention facility and will connect to the existing storm drain inlet by RCP shown in the construction plans. The 18-inch RCP will be located beneath existing utilities as shown in the plans.
 
Additionally, 4 curb inlets will be installed at the Summit-Piedmont intersection. The eastmost inlet will replace an existing manhole located in the sidewalk. The inlets will take in additional water flowing downhill towards Piedmont Road. All new or renovated structures will be connected to existing stormwater infrastructure. The project will require MOT for work performed in or near the right-of-way. The City shall be notified 24 hours at minimum prior to any changes in the traffic pattern including road, lane closures, and sidewalk closures.
 
The contractor is responsible for the protection of existing utilities and infrastructure located below ground level, and additional utility locates may be necessary during construction.
 
The pond area will be sodded once the pond has been excavated to final depth, and disturbed grass areas will be re-sodded.
 
Any facilities unrelated to this project that are damaged or destroyed during the project will be restored at the contractor’s expense.
 
The city will perform inspections during the project, and work shall be approved by the city inspector.
 
All work shall be in accordance with the standards and specifications provided by the City of Pensacola.
