ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Lafayette County, MS
 
Sealed bids for asbestos removal and disposal or demolition and removal and disposal of the Weems School Building will be received by the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors, herein called the “OWNER”, at the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors Board Room located in the Chancery Court Building at 300 N. Lamar, Oxford, MS until 9:00 A.M., Local Time, August 17, 2018 at which they will be publicly opened and read aloud.  Bids received after this time will not be accepted and will be returned unopened.
 
The work shall consist essentially of the following items:
 
BASE BID 1)     Removal and disposal of all asbestos materials only in approximately 19,632 square feet of the Weems School located at 70 CR 343, Taylor, MS 38673.  Under Base Bid No. 1 the successful contractor will not be required to remove and dispose of all structures, just asbestos materials.  All materials removed shall be disposed of at a MDEQ approved facility.
 
BASE BID 2)     Demolition and removal of approximately 19,632 square feet of the existing Weems School buildings and their contents including asbestos removal of the existing materials of the roof, flooring, slab and other materials.  All building material, including asbestos, will be removed and disposed of offsite.  Site address is 70, CR 343, Taylor, MS 38673.
 
BASE BID 3)     Removal and disposal of all asbestos material and vinyl tile on the area that was burned, smoked and water damaged by fire.  This area is approximately 7,140 square feet and is shown on Drawing Number 3.  All materials removed shall be disposed of offsite. 
 
The bidder may bid either Base Bid or all three.  All materials removed shall be disposed of at a MDEQ approved facility.
 
The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors hereby notifies all Bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged and women’s business enterprises qualified to perform this type work will be afforded the full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.
 
The Contract Documents are on file and may be examined at the following locations:

2.  Elliott and Britt Engineering, PA, 823 North Lamar Boulevard, Oxford, MS 38655
 
All documents required for bidding purposes may be obtained from Elliott and Britt Engineering, PA located at 823 North Lamar Boulevard, Oxford, MS 38655, or may be purchased through www.centralbidding.com. 
 
The proposal and contract documents in its entirety shall be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Chancery Clerk, Sherry Wall, prior to the hour and date above designed.  The proposal may also be submitted electronically through www.centralbidding.com.  No bidder may withdraw his bid within sixty (60) days after the date of actual bid opening, without Owner’s consent.
 
This procurement will be subject to all applicable sections of the Mississippi Code of 1972, Annotated, as they apply to local governments, in accordance with Supplemental General Conditions for Federally Assisted Construction Contracts.
 
The award, if made, will be made to the party submitting the lowest and best responsible bid deemed most favorable to the Owner.  The Lafayette County Board of Supervisors reserves the right to accept either Base 1 or Base 2 or Base 3, or to reject any and all bids, to waive any informalities or irregularities in the bids received.
