INVITATION FOR BIDS
 
NOTICE is hereby given that the CITY OF FLOWOOD, MS (herein called the Owner) will receive written, sealed bids until 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 at the office of the City Clerk in Flowood City Hall located at 2101 Airport Road, Flowood, MS 39232, for the furnishing of all labor and materials and for the construction of that certain project designated as:
 
LAKELAND MARKETPLACE EXT. & STRICKLAND DR. IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
 
Drawings and Specifications being on file at the office of the City Clerk at Flowood City Hall located at 2101 Airport Road, Flowood, MS 39232.
 
The Project Scope is to construct an extension of Lakeland Market Place Lane and remove and re-construct of Strickland Drive. The general work items required will include, but are not limited to demolition, earthwork, asphalt paving, storm drain, curb & gutter, pavement markings and signage, maintenance of traffic, and all other work as required by the construction plans, contract documents & specifications.
 
A Pre-Bid Conference will be conducted on Friday, April 12th, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. local time in the Board Room of the City of Flowood at the above listed address.  Attendance by a principal, project manager or estimator of any prospective bidder is recommended but not required.
 
Bids shall be submitted in one of the following manners:  1) Paper Form, in duplicate, to the office of the City Clerk in Flowood City Hall located at 2101 Airport Road, Flowood, MS 39232 in a sealed envelope designated as “Bid For:  LAKELAND MARKETPLACE EXT. & STRICKLAND DR. IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT”.  The outside of said envelope shall bear the Bidder’s Name, and Certificate of Responsibility Number and shall be Addressed to: The Honorable Mayor and Board of Alderman, City of Flowood, 2101 Airport Road, Flowood, MS 39232; or, 2) Electronically at www.centralbidding.com.
 
The total Contract Time will be 120 consecutive calendar days with liquidated damages at $500.00 per consecutive calendar day thereafter.
 
Copies of the plans and specifications, together with contract documents, may be obtained from the office of Benchmark Engineering & Surveying, LLC, 660 Katherine Dr., Suite 302 upon payment of $150 for each set, none of which is refundable.
 
Bid Security in the amount of 5% of the bid must accompany each bid in accordance with the INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS.
 
Minority and Woman Owned Business Enterprises are solicited to bid on this contract as prime contractors and are encouraged to make inquiries regarding potential subcontracting opportunities, equipment, material and/or supply needs.
 
The City of Flowood is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and hereby notifies all bidders will be afforded the full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, sexual preference, marital or veteran status, or any other legally protected status in consideration for an award.
 
No prospective CONTRACTOR may withdraw his proposal within SIXTY (60) DAYS after the actual date of the opening thereof.
 
The CITY OF FLOWOOD reserves the right to waive any information or irregularities or to reject any or all bids.
 
Award will be made to lowest and best bidder as determined by the Owner.
